An elderly woman was found fatally shot at a home owned by Ron Ely in the Hope Ranch neighborhood of Santa Barbara Tuesday night.
The robbery was reported at about 7:40 a.m. in the 2300 block of San Jacinto Avenue. The first deputies on the scene found a man with gunshot wounds.
A man was killed by Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies after causing a commotion in a Whittier neighborhood, first with a machete, then with a knife, and saying he wanted to be shot by cops.
The man, described only as being in his 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene. The body was covered by a white tent and remained in the street in front of a row of homeless tents on the sidewalk.
