The Republican-led Senate has voted to advance Supreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett toward final confirmation despite Democratic objections.
All 12 Republicans on the committee voted to advance the nomination, while all 10 Democrats boycotted the vote.
Tuesday marks Barrett's first opportunity as a Supreme Court nominee to expand on her judicial philosophy and view of the role of jurists.
Any possible stimulus package must pass through the Senate, which is now focused on installing Amy Coney Barrett on the Supreme Court.
