Tux Shirt Once Owned By Ol' Blue Eyes And Found At Yard Sale Could Bring In Lotsa Green
ORANGE (CBS) — Unemployed construction worker Rick Gorski could turn a $5 purchase at a neighbor's yard sale into one major business deal.
This Saturday, an Orance County auctioneer will take bids for a tailor-made, authenticated tux shirt once worn by Frank Sinatra.
The shirt, worn by Sinatra during a benefit concert in 1988, could fetch upwards of $15,000.
Gorski was apparently helping a wealthy neighbor with a yard sale a year ago when he spotted the shirt. Auctioneer Don Presley says Gorski asked how much and the woman said, "Five bucks."
Later, he felt it had to be worth more and, Presley says, when he asked her to split whatever he made from the shirt she replied by E-mail, "No Rick, God bless you. I know you need it and I hope you do well with it."
Presley believes the shirt, without question, will sell for upwards of $10K and possibly as much as $15K or more.
Gorski has no car and a special-needs child, according to Presley. "He's so broke, he can't even pay attention. We're hoping this will do real well for him."
