WTC Steel Beams, NYC Fire Truck On Display For 9/11 Anniversary

ANAHEIM (CBS) — A display of twisted steel beams and a flame-scorched New York City fire engine is stirring strong emotions from residents in Orange County days before the tenth anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks.

KNX 1070's Mike Landa reports on the new display at the Nixon Presidential Library in Yorba Linda.

Ladder Truck 152 — now at rest at the library — was among those crews on the scene fighting flames in the World Trade Center on that fateful day in 2001.

For many, seeing firsthand the nearly 20 tons of mangled steel that once made up the Twin Towers served as a grim reminder of the painful memories of that day.

"It's one thing to see it on the news and on TV, but to see something that was actually there, it's extremely overwhelming," said one visitor.

The display will remain open to the public through Sept. 11.
