World's First Burrito Kiosk Arrives In WeHo
WEST HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com) — The world's first burrito kiosk, Burritobox, has officially arrived in the Southland.
The machine, which distributes heated hormone- and antibiotic-free burritos for $3, can be found inside West Hollywood's newest Mobil station, 8380 Santa Monica Blvd.
A second kiosk will be coming to a Century City 76 station, 10389 Santa Monica Blvd., on Jan. 18.
Flavors include: roasted potato with cage-free egg and cheese; uncured bacon with cage-free egg; chorizo sausage with cage-free egg and cheese; shredded beef and cheese, and free-range chicken with beans and rice.
KCAL9's Melanie Woodrow reports that residents stopped by the Mobil station Tuesday night to try the burrito.
"This is so weird...and awesome," Rose Stahl said.
Robert Recinos, a self-professed foodie, said, "I don't think it's gonna beat out some of the local spots in LA, but in a pinch, can't go wrong."
Thomas Gibbons wasn't the biggest fan of the food item.
"For the price…it's pretty good, it's a little bland," he said. "I would probably equate it to a burrito you would buy and microwave."
As of 10 p.m. Tuesday night, the Burritobox was sold out. It's unknown how many burritos were in the machine.
