Workers, Community Leaders To Hold Rally At Pico Rivera Walmart
PICO RIVERA (CBSLA.com) — Workers from nearly a dozen Los Angeles Walmart stores will participate in a rally Thursday morning in protest of the company's attempts to silence and retaliate against workers for speaking out.
A rally will be held at 10:30 a.m. at the Pico Rivera Walmart at 8500 Washington Blvd.
Executive Director of Los Amigos Dr. Jose Moreno, Secretary-Treasurer of the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor Maria Elena Durazo and Rev. Eric Lee of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference along with hundreds of other community supporters will join the workers.
"Walmart should not be silencing workers for standing up for what's good for my store, my co-workers, my family and my community," Venanzi Luna, a striking worker at the Pico Rivera Walmart, said in a statement. "I am striking to take a stand against Walmart's illegal bullying tactics."
