Worker dies, another injured at Orange County high school construction site

A worker died and another was injured Thursday morning while working at a construction site at an Orange County high school, authorities said.

First responders received a 911 call at 10:21 a.m. reporting two workers were injured in a construction zone at Villa Park High School, according to the Orange County Fire Authority. When paramedics arrived, one of the workers was pronounced dead at the scene while they treated the other wounded person and rushed them to a nearby hospital, authorities said. 

"While we have no additional information, please know our hearts are with the victim, the family, the school, and the community," the O.C. Fire Authority said in an update on X at 1:50 p.m.

No students or staff were present or wounded in the incident, authorities said. Earlier, fire officials said there was no threat to the school or surrounding community.

Authorities have not released any further details as the investigation continues.
