Woodland Hills Man Gets Prison For Exporting Missile Parts To Iran
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — A San Fernando Valley man is behind bars on Monday for trying to illegally export missiles parts to Iran from the U.S.
Davoud Baniameri, 38, of Woodland Hills, was sentenced to 51 months in federal prison on Friday after pleading guilty in May.
Baniameri, an Iranian citizen and legal U.S. resident, planned to ship parts he tried to buy from an Illinois-based comapny to Iran, prosecutors said.
U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald said Baniameri is a threat to the national security of the U.S., the Associate Press reports.
Two other men have been charged in addition to Baniameri after his arrest in 2009.
Banimeri's attorney, Thomas Brandstrader said his client is disappointed and was hoping for a ligher sentence.
