Woman's Body Found On Sidewalk In Northridge

NORTHRIDGE (CBSLA.com) — Police Thursday were investigating the suspicious death of a woman whose body was found on a sidewalk in the San Fernando Valley.

A driver discovered the body around 5 p.m. Wednesday on the sidewalk in a neighborhood near the intersection of Devonshire Street and Encino Avenue in Northridge, the Los Angeles Police Department said.

When paramedics arrived, they pronounced the woman, who was in her 30s, dead at the scene. It was unclear how she died.

LAPD detectives are focusing their investigation on a home near where the body was found.

A Ford Mustang was also towed from the scene early Thursday morning.

"There's a vehicle of interest that we're looking at and we're going to take it to our print shed and try and find out exactly if it has any evidentiary value at all," Det. Harvey Martin said.

Police are unsure if the car belongs to the woman or if she lived at the home in question.

No additional details were released.
