Woman Struck And Killed By Hit-And-Run Driver In Gardena
GARDENA (CBS) — Authorities are on the hunt for a hit-and-run driver in Gardena who struck and killed a woman just after 9 p.m. Friday.
They say the driver was in a small Honda.
Moments before the crash, witnesses said the motorist was driving erratically and recklessly.
The driver was going west between Budlong and Normandie Avenues. The pedestrian was crossing Rosecrans Avenue.
Paramedics rushed the unidentified woman to Harbor UCLA Medical Center where she was later pronounced dead.
The suspect was described as a Latino male, about 25-30 years of age, with short or shaved hair and a medium to heavy build. Witnesses said there were also two passengers in the car.
The car was described as a gray, four-door 2000 or 2001 Honda Civic or Accord with tinted windows. The vehicle likely sustained damage to the left front and officials say the driver's side door mirror was knocked off.
Gardena police asked anyone who witnessed the crash or might know the owner of the car to call them at (310) 217-6135.
