Woman Rescued From Car After Crashing Down 241 Toll Road Embankment

IRVINE (CBSLA.com) — A woman whose car tumbled down an embankment off the 241 Toll Road Thursday was airlifted to an area hospital.

Authorities spent nearly two hours trying to track down just where the car ended up, California Highway Patrol Officer Denise Quesada said.

The victim's husband called Anaheim police at 8:47 a.m., saying she had been involved in a crash, but wasn't sure where, according to Quesada.

About 10:30 a.m., authorities found the car just south of the 241 Toll Road.

"Her cellphone was pinging at the Santa Ana (5) and the Laguna Canyon Road (133)," Quesada said. "By the time we got the call and started searching for her, the cell phone died."

The woman's car was found 175 yards down an embankment, according to the CHP.

The woman was airlifted by Orange County Fire Authority rescue workers, Quesada said. Her condition was not immediately known.
