Woman Pleads Not Guilty To Attacking Leonardo DiCaprio
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — A 40-year-old woman has pleaded not guilty Wednesday to attacking actor Leonardo DiCaprio with a bottle during a 2005 party in the Hollywood Hills.
Aretha Wilson, who was extradited from Canada to face a charge of assault with a deadly weapon, remains jailed on $150,000 bail. She is expected to return to court on Aug. 23 for a preliminary hearing.
DiCaprio suffered "great bodily injury" when Wilson attacked him with a broken beer bottle on June 20, 2005, as he was leaving a party, according to an arrest warrant.
Deputy District Attorney Hilary Williams said earlier that Wilson was on probation for a previous offense in Canada when she attacked the actor.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Hilleri G. Merritt previously issued a protective order requiring Wilson to stay at least 500 yards away from the actor and two named witnesses to the alleged attack.
