Woman Leads CHP On Pursuit With Dogs In Tow

LONG BEACH (CBSLA.com) — A woman was arrested Monday night after leading the California Highway Patrol on a pursuit with six dogs in her car.

According to the CHP, the chase began in Orange County when officers noticed the suspect's vehicle on the shoulder of the 91 Freeway. When they approached, the driver took off and the chase was on.

An hour later, the CHP conducted a PIT maneuver on the southbound 710 Freeway in Long Beach. The vehicle stopped briefly before taking off again. Five minutes later, officers performed a second PIT maneuver, disabling the vehicle.

The driver remained inside her Mercedes-Benz for about 15 minutes before she decided to get out. Then three of the six dogs in her car jumped out and scurried across the freeway lanes.

Officers ordered the suspect to put her hands up and lay face down on the ground. She was arrested as authorities corralled all six canines from the woman's car.
