Woman hospitalized after fire breaks out at Chatsworth hotel
A woman was hospitalized after firefighters had to extricate her from a hotel in Chatsworth on Sunday evening when a fire broke out.
It happened at around 7:30 p.m. at the Holiday Inn location in the 21000 block of W. Devonshire Street, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
"Arriving units made entry into the hotel room to find a well involved fire confined to the guest room couch, which activated fire sprinklers," said LAFD's statement.
Because of the sprinkler activation, the flames were confined to the room where the fire broke out, firefighters said. They found a 40-year-old woman "down in the room next the smoldering piece of furniture" and they "quickly extricated" her to an awaiting ambulance outside of the hotel.
She was taken to a nearby hospital for smoke inhalation.
No other injuries were reported and no further damage occurred to the hotel.
It remains unclear what sparked the fire.
