Menifee High School Placed On Lockdown After Woman's Body Found In Nearby Parking Lot
MENIFEE (CBSLA.com) — A Riverside County high school was on lockdown Friday morning after a woman was found dead in an adjacent parking lot.
Authorities responded to a shots fired call around 7:45 a.m. near Paloma Valley High School in the 31000 block of Bradley Road.
A former county librarian was found fatally shot in her car in the Paloma Valley Community Library parking lot, adjacent to the school. The unidentified woman was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.
Authorities are treating the incident as an apparent suicide.
Paloma Valley High School was placed on lockdown just before 8 a.m. as the Riverside County Sheriff's Department investigated the scene.
Parents received automated calls and emails explaining the reason for the lockdown.
"I just got the phone message this morning saying for parents not to worry that they discovered a body in a car," Ester Rivas said.
Sources told KCAL9's Amber Lee, the victim may have been fired from the library Thursday.
The school's lockdown was lifted before noon and classes have resumed as normal.
