Woman Allegedly Followed Home From Work, Stabbed Outside Of Stanton Home
STANTON (CBS) — A woman was stabbed early Tuesday morning outside of her residence after authorities believe she was followed home from her job at the Commerce Casino.
The 56-year-old victim was approached by a man after she pulled up to her home on Via Jacara around 5 a.m., the Orange County Sheriff's Department said. The suspect, who drove a dark colored car, asked the woman for directions to the 91 Freeway before attacking her.
"He jumped her from the back, grabbed her by the neck, punched her in the head several times and then stabbed her in the stomach," said Jim Amormino of the Orange County Sheriff's Department.
The suspect then stole the victim's purse and fled in his car.
"We are not sure if they targeted her at the casino. They may have thought she did win some money," Amormino said.
The woman underwent surgery Tuesday morning and is in serious condition at UC Irvine Medical Center.
Officials did not release a description of the suspect.
The Orange County Sheriff's Department is trying to determine if this attack is related to another crime in Garden Grove where a man was robbed after also leaving the Commerce Casino.
