Woman Accused Of Fatal DUI Crash That Caused Teen To Fall 50 Feet Over Freeway Guardrail

SANTA ANA — A woman accused of drunken driving has been charged in the death of a teenager who fell 50 feet over an Orange County freeway guardrail.

Ashley Selina Bryan was charged Tuesday with a felony count of vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and other charges. If convicted, she faces up to five years in state prison.

Police say Bryan was driving on State Route 57 in Orange Saturday night when she crashed into a Chevrolet Camaro stopped on the right shoulder. Eighteen-year-old Cameron Cook, who was standing outside the disabled vehicle, was knocked backward over the guardrail and landed on a concrete embankment.

Cook was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police say Bryan had a blood alcohol level of 0.17 percent -- more than twice the legal limit.
