Woman, 96, Killed In 5-Vehicle Collision In Huntington Beach
HUNTINGTON BEACH (CBS) — A 96-year-old woman was killed Friday in a chain-reaction, five-vehicle collision in Huntington Beach.
The collision occurred just before 11:40 a.m. at Adams Avenue and Bushard Street, Huntington Beach police Lt. Russell Reinhart said.
A blue 2005 Mercedes-Benz stalled in traffic, Reinhart said. Three other drivers managed to stop behind the stalled car, but the driver of a 200 Mitsubishi Endeavor slammed into the column of vehicles, causing the chain-reaction crash, Reinhart said.
Six people were taken to various area hospitals, Reinhart said. The 96-year-old woman, whose name was not immediately released, was a passenger in a 2005 Toyota, Reinhart said.
It doesn't appear alcohol played any role in the crash, Reinhart said.
No one was immediately cited, he added.
