Woman, 82, Killed In Huntington Beach Car Crash

HUNTINGTON BEACH (CBS) — An 82-year-old woman was killed in a two-car crash in Huntington Beach, authorities said Sunday.

The woman was a passenger in a gold 2002 Honda Acura that was broadsided by a silver 2011 Jeep Wrangler on Adams Avenue at Bushard Street at about 9:35 a.m. Saturday. She died at the scene, police said.

The deceased was later identified as Esther Kumasaka, a resident of Huntington Beach, according to the Coroner's Office.

The man driving the Honda was taken to UCI Medical Center in stable condition. Police did not release his name, but said he was Kumaska's 86-year-old husband.

The 33-year-old woman driving the Jeep Wrangler was treated at the scene for a complaint of pain in her right leg. She was released after speaking with investigating officers, and no citations were issued.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
