LONG BEACH (CBS) — A 63-year-old woman was struck and killed Saturday as she crossed a street in Long Beach, a city fire official said.
The fatal accident was reported at 6:11 p.m. on Willow Street between Long Beach Boulevard and Atlantic Avenue, said Matthew Dobberpuhl of the Long Beach Fire Department.
"She was launched about 30 feet," Dobberpuhl said. "Her shoes were off when she was found."
The woman was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead.
Her name was withheld pending notification of next of kin.
