Winning $56.6M Mega Millions Ticket Sold In Cypress Park
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — A Mega Millions ticket sold at a convenience store in Cypress Park is worth $56.6 million.
The $1 ticket was sold at Convenience Retailers at 2250 N. Figueroa Street, lottery officials said. The store is expected to receive a bonus of $282,500 for selling the ticket.
"I think it's great to hear that we finally have a winner," Leyda Sanchez, the store's assistant manager, said. "I am in shock. I still can believe we have a winner here."
The winner has 60 days to claim the prize and can choose a one-time payout of roughly half the total or payments over 26 years.
A second winning ticket sold in North Carolina will take the other half of the $113 million jackpot.
Three other tickets sold in Los Angeles County -- Van Nuys, Long Beach and West Covina -- matched five of six numbers, and the ticket holders will split $433,041 three ways.
The winning numbers in Friday's drawing 3-19-21-44-45, with Mega number 29.
The jackpot in the multi-state lottery was the first to exceed $100 million since June and the 16th Mega Millions jackpot won by a Californian. The last big winner was a Morro Bay resident who won $135 million.
