Winner Of $63M SuperLotto Prize Has Until Thursday To Come Forward
CHATSWORTH (CBSLA.com) — There's a multi-millionaire among us, but if that lucky SuperLotto winner fails to come forward by Thursday, that money will go toward California's public schools.
The ticket $63 million was bought in August at a 7-Eleven, 20871 Lassen St., in Chatsworth.
If no one comes forward to claim the prize, it will be the largest forfeited jackpot in state history.
The ticket matches the Aug. 8 draw numbers of 46-1-33-30-16 and Mega number 24. The winner should immediately sign the back of the ticket in ink and keep it in a safe place until it can be taken to a Lottery district office.
"Every day I get somebody coming in saying, 'Oh, I wish it was me … I think it is me,' " said Arsel Nazir, a store employee. "I'm like, 'Go home and check your ticket.' "
There were security cameras rolling at the time of the purchase, but lottery officials don't want to release it. They say it's not clear who the winner is as so many people were buying tickets around the same time.
But lottery officials say they will use the video to verify the winner if he or she comes forward.
The store owner has received a $315,000 bonus, and workers say the win has been good for business.
Before the $1.4 billion Poweball jackpot last month, apparently people were lined up to buy their tickets. The winning ticket ended up being sold in Chino Hills, and no one has come forward for that win either, but they have one year.
"That's heartbreaking," said Dexx Sneed. "I mean, it wasn't me. I just wish it was me."
