Winds Expected To Pick Up In Parts Of Southern California
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Winds are expected to pick up in portions of southwest California Sunday, where a wind advisory is expected to go into effect by afternoon.
The advisory is set to take effect at 1 p.m. and will continue through 3 a.m. Tuesday as westerly and northwesterly winds of up to 20-30 miles per hour are anticipated.
The National Weather Service says wind gusts of 35-55 mph can be expected in the advisory area, which includes the Antelope Valley and the cities of Lancaster and Palmdale.
Meteorologist Louisa Hodge reports that the strong winds are expected in Apple Valley as well along with the Inland Empire through Monday evening.
Highs Sunday are expected to stay in the 70s; Corona, Fontana and Riverside will have temperatures in the 80s.
By Thursday, a storm could generate wet weather in Southern California. Showers could continue throughout much of the day, Hodge said.
