Wild Winds Topple Trees, Down Power Lines Across Southland
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Big gusts are blowing through Southern California and they aren't letting up anytime soon.
The National Weather Service says winds on Saturday reached 54 miles per hour in the Angeles National Forest north of Los Angeles, and gusts in the 30s were felt from San Diego to Santa Barbara.
The Los Angeles Times says more than 30,000 Southern California Edison customers lost power at some point Saturday, and several small brush fires were sparked throughout the region, but all were quickly put out.
The gusts are expected to increase and an advisory remains in effect until Sunday afternoon. The National Weather Service says driving could be dangerous, especially for high-profile vehicles and mountain travelers.
