Whittier Man Accused In Stabbing At Sports Bar In Huntington Beach
HUNTINGTON BEACH (CBSLA.com) — Authorities Friday said a 30-year-old man was in custody in connection with a stabbing at a sports bar in the city of Huntington Beach.
A statement issued by the Huntington Beach Police Department said officers responded to the "Out of Bounds" sports bar in the 21000 block of Brookhurst Street following a report of a stabbing.
The incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. Thursday.
Upon arriving on scene, officers located an unidentified man with injuries described as serious and life-threatening.
First responders initially treated the victim at the scene and subsequently transported him to an area hospital where he underwent surgery. He was listed in serious but stable condition.
The statement said the suspect, identified by police as Justin Paul Petruna of Whittier, was detained "some distance away from the bar." He has since been charged with attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon.
