Westside Residents Warned Of Traffic Tie-Ups During Netanyahu Visit
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Drivers on the Westside were warned of possible traffic congestion when Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visits the Southland this week.
Netanyahu will be in town to meet with local business leaders and attend the premiere of an Israel tourism film following a summit Monday with President Barack Obama at the White House.
The Israeli Prime Minister, who is featured in the film "Israel: The Royal Tour," which is hosted by CBS News travel editor Peter Greenberg, was scheduled to attend the movie's premiere followed by a VIP reception on Tuesday at Paramount Studios.
On Wednesday, Netanyahu will fly to Northern California, where he will meet with officials from Silicon Valley tech firms including Apple, LinkedIn and Ebay. He is also expected to meet with Gov. Jerry Brown to formally sign an agreement aimed at strengthening economic ties between California and Israel.
Police warned drivers to expect at least some traffic congestion and, if at all possible, to avoid the following areas:
TUESDAY:
— Santa Monica Boulevard between the San Diego (405) Freeway and Melrose Avenue, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.;
— the 405 Freeway between Wilshire Boulevard and the Glenn Anderson (105) Freeway between 3:30 and 4:30 p.m.; and
— Melrose Avenue between La Cienega Boulevard and Van Ness from 7 to 9:30 p.m.
WEDNESDAY:
— Santa Monica Boulevard between the 405 Freeway and Melrose from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. and from 4 to 11 p.m.;
— the 405 Freeway from Wilshire to the 105 Freeway, also from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. and from 4 to 11 p.m.;
— the Santa Monica (10) Freeway between the 405 and Pacific Coast Highway from 6:30 to 10:45 p.m.; and
— PCH between the 10 Freeway and Malibu Canyon Road from 6:30 to 11 p.m.
THURSDAY:
— Santa Monica Boulevard between the 405 Freeway and Melrose from 8 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.;
— Pico Boulevard between Roxbury and Castello from 8:45 to 10 a.m.; and
— the 405 Freeway between Wilshire and the 105 Freeway from 12:15 and 12:45 p.m.
