West Covina Resident Recounts Home-Invasion Robbery
WEST COVINA (CBSLA.com) — Authorities continued to search for two men Friday accused of impersonating police officers during home invasion robberies in West Covina this week.
One of the victims KCAL9 identified only as Julia said the incident occurred around 6 a.m. Wednesday.
It was then she said the two men tried to kick down her door and window, allegedly claiming to be with the DEA and stating they were there to serve a search warrant.
Julia told KCAL9's Rachel Kim she was afraid to let the men in whom she said were armed with handguns and wearing what appeared to be police vests with the American flag.
According to Kim, three adults and three children were tied up while the apartment was ransacked.
Julia said her biggest fear was that the children would be shot.
Police learned upon arriving on scene the suspects allegedly stole cash, an Xbox and games from the apartment before entering a second unit.
"We're asking for the public to come out if they saw or heard anything that might help us get some kind of lead on these two suspects who are considered dangerous if they're out there impersonating officers," Officer Eddie Flores of the West Covina Police Department said.
"What the suspects were wearing was just the tactical vest without any of this equipment, without the badge, without the police logo. They just had an American flag," Flores said.
