Weaver Wows Rangers In Angels' 1-0 Win
ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) -- Jered Weaver won a riveting duel with fellow All-Star C.J. Wilson, and the Los Angeles Angels converted an error by Texas center fielder Endy Chavez into an unearned run, beating the Rangers 1-0 on Wednesday and moving within three games of the AL West leaders.
Weaver (13-4) scattered seven hits in seven-plus innings and struck out six to win his seventh straight decision and reduce his major league-best ERA to 1.81 -- the lowest ever by an Angels pitcher through his first 21 starts of a season. The Angels won the rubber game of the three-game set one day after rallying from a five-run deficit to end the Rangers' 12 game winning streak.
Wilson (10-4) held the Halos to just two hits over eight innings, struck out eight and walked one.
