Watts Man Charged In Christmas Day Murder Of Stepfather
COMPTON (CBSLA.com) — A 22-year-old man was charged Friday with murder in the fatal stabbing of his stepfather on Christmas Day.
Rudy Flores, of Watts, is scheduled to be arraigned Monday in Compton in connection with the stabbing death of his 54-year-old stepfather, Nery Ambrosio.
Flores was also charged with one count of making criminal threats after allegedly threatening his stepsister when she called 911 for help.
Flores had argued with his mother about a baseball bat she hid from him, Deputy District Attorney Beatriz Dieringer said. When his mother refused to tell Flores where the bat was and went to her bedroom, her son allegedly pushed his way inside and stabbed his stepfather.
Neighbors subdued Flores until police arrived and arrested him, Dieringer said.
Flores has been in custody since his arrest and the District Attorney's Office says they will ask his bail be set at just over $1 million.
Flores faces a maximum of life in prison if convicted as charged.
