Water Main Break Floods Major Thoroughfare In Northridge
NORTHRIDGE (CBSLA.com) —A broken six-inch water main Tuesday afternoon flooded and temporarily shut down a major thoroughfare in Northridge.
Fire crews responded to reports of water on Roscoe Boulevard at Reseda Boulevard around 4 p.m.
Police closed down Roscoe, between Reseda and Etiwanda Avenue, until Los Angeles Department of Water and Power workers were certain the street was not weakened by the water.
One lane in the eastbound and westbound directions was reopened around 7:30 p.m.
The DWP crew was in the process of repairing the pipe and the street around that same time.
The break affected five commercial properties and one apartment complex, according to the department's MaryAnn Pierson.
