Water Main Break Closes Major Sherman Oaks Intersection
SHERMAN OAKS (CBSLA) – A water main break has shut down a major intersection in Sherman Oaks early Wednesday morning next to Notre Dame High School.
At around 1:10 a.m., an 8-inch water main ruptured at Woodman Avenue and Riverside Drive. Water flowed into the roadway for several hours before the leak was shut off.
Los Angeles Department of Water and Power crews were on scene.
LADWP said the repairs could take until 2 p.m. to complete. Five commercial customers were without water service.
There was no word on what caused the leak.
Woodman Avenue was closed from Riverside Drive to La Maida Street. Morning commuters were advised to avoid the area. Drivers should consider using Coldwater Canyon Avenue and Laurel Canyon Boulevard as detours.
