Water Main Break Closes Down Northridge Streets
NORTHRIDGE (CBSLA.com) — A break in a trunk line caused flooding for as far as at least one city block in Northridge on Friday.
Significant street flooding was reported around 1:30 p.m. along the 8300 block of Tampa Avenue and Roscoe Boulevard in Northridge, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
SKY9's Aaron Fitzgerald reported the LAPD had closed off the intersection to all traffic as maintenance crews arrived on the scene.
"It is not affecting any customers, and there has been no significant street damage," Carol Tucker of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power said about 2:45 p.m.
The cleanup was expected to last well into the Friday evening commute.
The 34-inch trunk line goes through main parts of the city, but does not serve any particular customer, Tucker explained.
