Voters Show Strong Support For Measure To Cap Number Of Pot Shops
HOLLYWOOD (CBS/AP) — Early ballot returns Tuesday night showed that voters strongly supported a measure that would cap the number of medical marijuana shops in Los Angeles.
Proposition D, which would also raise taxes slightly, had 63.2 percent of the vote with 56 percent of precincts reporting.
The prop was one of three measures competing against one another for how LA will regulate pot.
Ordinance E, which would also limit the number of pot shops but raise no new taxes, had 36 percent of the vote.
Ordinance F, which wouldn't limit the number of shops but would put stringent controls on employees, got about 42 percent of the vote.
The measure with the most votes wins, but it must receive more than 50 percent.
