Villaraigosa Participates In Food Drive To Help 'Stamp Out Hunger'
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa participated in the largest single-day food drive in the world over the weekend.
On Saturday, the mayor helped fill the back of a postal truck as part of the "Stamp Out Hunger" food drive.
As KNX 1070's Margret Carrero reports, Villaraigosa says it's a shame to see so much hunger in such a prosperous country.

"It's a travesty and the letter carriers have understood that we all have a responsibility for the children, for the families who go hungry too often," he said.
Larry Brown, who heads the downtown Postal Branch, tells Carrero that the goal is to eradicate hunger and not just in Los Angeles.
"One in every six adult or senior goes to sleep at night hungry and we're trying to stamp out hunger nationwide," Brown said.
