Loved Ones Say Goodbye To 4 Teens Killed In Fiery Chino Crash
EASTVALE (CBSLA.com) — Loved ones gathered Sunday night to mourn the loss of four teenage friends killed in a fiery multi-vehicle crash that also claimed a fifth life in Chino Friday.
According to the coroner's office, Nathan Dominguez of Corona and Andrew Anthony Deleon, 19, of Mira Loma have been identified as two of the victims.
Police said Luis Ayal Medoza, 47, of Corona was also killed.
Officials have not yet named the other two teens killed, but friends at the vigil identified them as Nathanial Marin and Alex Horta.
According to the Chino Police Department, officers were sent around 8:46 p.m. Friday to a crash on Pine Avenue between Mill Creek Avenue and Chino Corona Road where three vehicles — a 2000 full size extended cab Chevrolet truck, a 2002 Honda Civic and a 2013 Honda Accord — had collided.
Two of the cars were engulfed in flames.
Authorities said four teen boys were traveling riding in the Chevrolet truck, which crashed in the k-rail, caught fire and triggered a car pile-up.
Police said the driver of the Honda Civic was released from the scene with non-life threatening injuries.
It's unclear what caused the Chevrolet truck to crash.
Nearly 500 people got together Sunday night at Roosevelt High School, the teens' alma mater, to mourn their passing.
Ryan Burgess called the four boys his brothers: "I've never been more honored in my life to know these four guys. And for the rest of my life I will go on continuing to love them."
Some family members of the victims who attended the vigil were too upset to talk.
Friends said all four, who were members of the high school band, will be greatly missed.
"This isn't goodbye to our four friends. This is a 'See you later,'" a friend said.
A crisis team will be at the high school Monday to help students and staff members.
