Vigil In Beverly Hills Remembers 3 Boys Kidnapped And Killed In West Bank
BEVERLY HILLS (CBSLA.com) — More than 1,000 people came together in the Beth Jacob congregation in Beverly Hills on Tuesday to remember three boys found buried under a pile of rocks near the West Bank town of Halul.
Funeral were held Tuesday in Israel, while loved ones in the United States sought comfort as well.
The boys, Eyal Yifrach, Gilad Shaar and Naftali Frenkel, were kidnapped nearly two weeks ago while on their way home from school.
David Siegel, consul general of Israel in Los Angeles, said: "Their smiles reminded us, the mother and father among us, of our very own children."
"The message is that we need to stand united against terrorism," Siegel said.
Leehy Shaar, who recently moved to Los Angeles, recently spoke to KCAL9′s Andrea Fujii about losing her nephew, Gilad. She said the 16-year-old was always smiling, loved life and taking care of his five sisters.
"They were just boys, just kids," she said. "I don't believe that he's not here anymore, I don't believe it."
