Vigil Held For Woman Who Went Missing Day After Valentine's

IRVINE (CBSLA.com) — Friends and family held an emotional candlelight vigil Friday for Erica Melissa Alonso, the missing Orange County woman last seen the morning after Valentine's Day.

Alonso was reportedly last seen by an on-and-off again boyfriend with whom she spent Valentine's Day evening at Sutra Lounge in Costa Mesa.

Alonso was seen on a club's security video chatting with a couple. The couple drove Alonso and her boyfriend to his home.

Authorities have cleared the couple of any involvement with Alonso's disappearance.

At the vigil, Alonso's parents said the vigils and support from friends are keeping up their hopes.

"We are keeping the light on," her father said.

A brother said: "Nothing can ever prepare you for something like this."

Investigators don't have enough evidence to call Alonso's disappearance a crime or name suspects. At this point, they believe she took off in her car after a fight with the former boyfriend.

Alonso will turn 28 Thursday. She is described as 5-foot-3 and about 110 pounds. She has long brown hair and brown eyes.

She was last seen driving a white, four-door 2014 Honda Civic with a California license plate number of 7FSS563.

Her family says they will never stop looking.

"The longer it takes," her father said, "it's harder and harder [on us]. But we are keeping the faith. We know that we are going to find her, one way or the other. We are not going to give up."

Authorities said there has been no activity on Alonso's cellphone or bank accounts.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Orange County Sheriff's Department at (714) 647-7000.
