Viewing, Rosary Service To Be Held For Slain Downey Police Officer
DOWNEY (CBSLA.com) — A service will be held Sunday for Downey Police Officer Ricardo Galvez.
The 29-year-old was shot and killed while sitting in his parked car near the Downey Police station earlier this month.
Two adults and a juvenile have been arrested and charged in connection with Galvez's shooting death.
Police believe the suspects were trying to rob Galvez and were unaware that he was an officer.
Galvez was also a Marine who served in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Sunday's viewing and rosary service started at 5 p.m. at the Downey Civic Center.
A funeral for Galvez will be held Monday 9 a.m. at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels in downtown Los Angeles.
