Victims Of O.C. Halloween Hit-And-Run Remembered On Eve Of Funeral Services
ORANGE (CBSLA.com) — On the eve of funeral services, loved ones of three teenage girls who were killed on Halloween in a hit-and-run crash gathered Friday to pay their respects.
Friends and family of Andrea Gonzalez gathered at Holy Family Cathedral in Orange Friday night for a rosary.
A few miles away, a wake was held for twin sisters Lexandra and Lexi Huerta Perez at the MacDougall Family Mortuary.
The three 13-year-olds were killed on Oct. 31 after being struck by a vehicle while walking in a Santa Ana crosswalk.
The suspected driver, identified by police as 31-year-old Jaquinn Bell, was arrested and charged with multiple counts, including charges of vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence and hit-and-run causing permanent injury or death, among others. His arraignment was postponed to Dec. 16.
Meanwhile, friends of the victims told KCAL9's Juan Fernandez they endured a difficult week at school.
"There was a lot of tears. A lot of people breaking down into tears," said Alexi Casias, the victims' friend.
"They were so young. It's sad to see them not be here anymore," said Juliana Lopez, another friend.
The three victims will be laid to rest Saturday.
