Victim, Suspect Identified In Angeles National Forest Murder

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Police have identified the victim and the suspect in a murder Thursday at the Angeles National Forest.

Authorities say Kevin Wolfe Pochter shot and killed Dean Ron Albert, 53, on the Big Santa Anita Canyon Road. Officials believe the shooting happened around 5:40 p.m.

The suspect, considered armed and dangerous, was last seen hiking in the San Gabriel Mountains above Arcadia and Monrovia yesterday evening.

Investigators are asking for the public's help in locating Pochter. He is described as 6 feet tall, 175 pounds, bald with blue eyes. He is wearing dark clothing.

Officials believe Pochter used the victim's vehicle following the murder.  The car, a silver BMW 740 series, was recovered at the Mount Wilson Observatory yesterday morning after witnesses recognized the vehicle after reading news reports.

Police are searching for Pochter on ground and by air.

Anyone who knows Pochter's whereabouts is asked to call 911 immediately.
