Ventura Police Nab Suspect Who Allegedly Robbed, Sexually Assaulted Massage Parlor Worker
VENTURA (CBSLA.com) — Ventura Police nabbed a 27-year-old robbery and sexual assault suspect Saturday morning.
Officials received several calls in reference to a sexual assault that had just occurred in the 700 block of East Main Street just after 10:30 a.m.
Arriving officers met the victim who was bleeding profusely from the face.
Through victim and witness statements, a description of the suspect was broadcast to officers in the area. Within minutes the suspect was taken into custody and positively identified.
The suspect was identified as Tyrane White. His alleged victim was a 39-year-old Los Angeles woman.
Authorities said the suspect entered a massage business and demanded money from the victim who was working the front counter.
The victim told the suspect that there wasn't any money in the store. The suspect became upset and began to punch the victim in the face reportedly causing her to fall through an interior store window. The suspect pursued the victim and dragged her into a masseuse room in the back of the business.
Officials say once in the back room, the suspect sexually assaulted the victim for several minutes. He also allegedly beat her in the face with a blunt instrument.
During the assault, the victim was able to free herself and she fled the business. Police said the suspect fled the business on foot and was caught at nearby Cemetery Park.
The victim was taken to Ventura County Medical Center where she was treated for her injuries and later released.
White was transported to the Ventura County Jail and booked for sexual assault, robbery, assault with a deadly weapon and false imprisonment.
Authorities said the object used in the attack has not been recovered. If anyone locates a hand tool of some kind that appears to have been used in an assault found near the crime scene, they are asked to contact Ventura Police immediately at (805) 339-4441.
