Vehicle Careens Off Cliff, Igniting Brush Fire In Topanga Canyon
TOPANGA CANYON (CBSLA.com) — A car plunged down a cliff Saturday morning in Topanga Canyon, setting off a small brush fire.
California Highway Patrol says the crash was reported around 10 a.m. one mile north of Pacific Coast Highway.
Firefighters were unable to find the driver and quickly set about putting out the flames.
A 60-by-100-foot area was scorched before the fire was knocked down.
Crews were able to pull the 2006 Infiniti out of the ravine.
Meanwhile, the road that links Topanga Canyon vilage to the coast was closed for more than three hours, snarling traffic on the two-lane road for quite a few drivers.
