'Vanity Fair' Publishes Scathing Article About Frank, Jamie McCourt
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — A scathing article about Dodgers' owners Frank and Jamie McCourt hits newsstands Thursday.
A nine-page article entitled "Major League Divorce" in the latest edition of Vanity Fair has new details about the McCourts' marriage, divorce, 2004 purchase of the Dodgers, and the financial woes that led to this week's bankruptcy filing.
Sources told Vanity Fair that Jamie McCourt had wanted to start a Dodgers network long before Major League Baseball rejected Frank McCourt's proposed deal with Fox.
One source told the magazine that Frank McCourt offered Jamie the family's homes plus an increased cash payment around $100 million. However, because he didn't give her any part of the team, she refused to accept it.
"Frank is a carcass on the ground at this point and Major League Baseball is circling the body," one source said to the magazine.
Sources also say Commissioner Bud Selig needs three-fourths of the league's team owners to vote with him to sell the team.
A bankruptcy hearing will be held July 20 and a divorce court hearing on August 4 could determine which McCourt owns the team.
