'Valley Bandit' Linked To 8 Bank Heists Since Dec. 2012
NORTHRIDGE (CBSLA.com) — Authorities sought the public's help Friday in identifying a serial bank robbery known as the "Valley Bandit".
The Valley Bandit is believed to be responsible for eight heists across the San Fernando Valley since December 2012. His most recent robbery was on Dec. 4 at a West Hills Wells Fargo.
"During the robberies linked to the Valley Bandit, the suspect enters the bank and states that he needs to make a withdrawal prior to brandishing a weapon and verbally demanding cash in various denominations," Laura Eimiller of the FBI said.
The suspect is usually dressed in a dark-colored baseball hat, dark clothing and carries a revolver, according to witness statements.
"In some cases, the suspect has aimed the weapon at employees or customers and has threatened to kill victims if the teller does not comply with his demands," Eimiller added.
The Valley Bandit has been seen driving several vehicles, including a white Mercedes SUV and a black Mercedes sedan. He may also be working with a getaway driver, officials said.
The suspect is described as a Hispanic of Middle-Eastern man with dark, unshaven facial hair. He is between 5 feet 9 inches and 6 feet tall, 180 to 200 pounds and is estimated to be 25 to 35 years old.
