USC Lands Top QB Recruit From Washington's Skyline
SAMMAMISH, Wash - Max Browne, one of the top quarterbacks in the country in the Class of 2013, committed to USC today in a small announcement made at his school.
He selected USC over Oklahoma and a host of other offers.
The 6-foot-5, 210-pound Browne has been one of the nation's most productive players over the last two seasons for Skyline (Sammamish, Wash.). As a sophomore, he threw for 4,182 yards and 50 touchdowns while as a junior, he registered 4,034 yards and 45 scores.
In addition to his productivity, Browne passes the eyeball test with ease and is very technically sound. CBS/MaxPreps recruiting expert Tom Lemming loves Browne's potential.
"He has all the tools to be a great one," Lemming said.
Browne will look to lead Skyline to another state title in 2012. However, he'll face stiff competition, including a marquee interstate showdown with Manatee (Bradenton, Fla.).
It will be interesting to watch the quarterback battle at USC after Matt Barkley graduates. Max Wittek and Cody Kessler are both currently redshirt freshmen. Browne would be competing as a true freshman next year if he does not get redshirted.
If that's the case, it will be interesting to see if it affects 2015 quarterback David Sills, who has been committed to USC for more than two years.
Sills has started on varsity since his eighth grade season, and almost certainly would expect to compete for a starting job as a college freshman.
