US Navy Veteran Dead After Weekend Hit-And-Run By Two Drivers In Santa Ana
SANTA ANA (CBS) — Police on Monday asked the public for help in finding two hit-and-run drivers who fatally a struck a U.S. Navy veteran in Santa Ana over the weekend.
Jose Javier Diaz, 55, was hit by a white pickup truck while crossing the 400 block of South Broadway when he was struck about 8:35 p.m. on Saturday, Santa Ana police Cmdr. Larry Coleman said.
"According to witness accounts, a white pickup truck northbound struck him and knocked him across the street, where a green Mustang going southbound struck him," Coleman said. "The green Mustang may have a black convertible top."
Both drivers kept on going after hitting the pedestrian and are likely to show damage, Coleman said.
Both drivers could face a charge of felony hit-and-run.
Diaz was turned over to coroner's investigators. An autopsy was pending.
