Ultimate Sleepover at San Diego Zoo Safari Park

Did you know that you can spend the night at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park? The park is already an amazing place to visit during the day, as you get the chance to get up close with animals that have huge fields to wander without fear of predators. Imagine getting to sleep just a few hundred feet from giraffes, gazelle, elephants as well as being woken in the morning by the sound of real lion roars. It is all possible via the Roar and Snore Safari overnight camping adventure.

There are several different sleepovers available. The adults-only night provides the most access to the most animals at the park that is not possible with children. The family night sleepover includes crafts, evening walks and some up-close wild animal encounters.

The junior night sleepover is for children ages 6 and younger and there is an earlier bed time than the other sleepovers. There are art projects, animal visits and a campfire complete with smores and a drumming session that involves everyone. Scouting nights are also available for Girl Scouts. The older the children, the more extensive the animal encounters.

There are three tent options available: the premium tent includes a wood floor, throw rug, queen size bed and two cots with bedding and electricity. There are a limited number of these tents available. Another option is the vista tent which is closer to restrooms/showers and has the best view of the African Plains, filled with rhinos and giraffes. The classic tents have mixed views and are farther away from the main camp. The vista and classic tents also come with sleeping pads which make it a bit more comfortable when sleeping on the ground with your sleeping bags.

When you go, don't forget to bring your own pillow and flashlights. It is not necessary to bring much more other than a change of clothes, a towel and toiletries. Your bags are collected when you check-in and are delivered to your tent. In the morning, the bags are picked back up and left waiting for you in the front parking lot. It could not be easier!

Tickets range from $180 to $260 per adult. Children's prices start at $150. Dinner, an evening snack and breakfast are all included, as well as a souvenir t-shirt. Sleepovers are held on select evenings throughout the year.
