UCLA Student Arrested During Frat Party Released On Bail
WESTWOOD (CBSLA.com) — A UCLA fraternity member who was arrested following a party at the Theta Chi house has been released on $100,000 bail.
Paul Meyer was arrested early Friday morning on charges of assault with intent to commit rape and false imprisonment. The university originally reported that Meyer was being held on suspicion of attempted murder.
University police responded to the fraternity house in the 600 block of Galey Avenue about 2:30 a.m. Friday for a reported "aggravated assault" at a party.
Upon arriving on scene, they detained the 20-year-old after he allegedly tried to choke a female student.
The alleged victim and Meyer were reportedly acquainted with each other prior to the incident.
She was taken to a hospital where she was treated and later released. Meyer was also taken to the hospital for an unspecified illness.
Meyer is expected to be arraigned Tuesday.
