UCLA Coach Mora Lashes Out After Photographer Disrupts Presser On Player's Death
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The reaction of UCLA players and coaches to the death of walk-on wide receiver Nicholas Pasquale has left little doubt how much head coach Jim Mora cares for his players.
Hours after Pasquale was fatally hit by a car in his hometown of San Clemente over the weekend, Mora arrived at the late freshman's home to personally deliver his condolences to his family.
After fighting tears and delivering an emotional speech to players and mourners alike, who gathered at the San Clemente High School football field for a vigil, Mora began to speak about the loss of Pasquale during a press conference on Monday.
It was during this time a member of the media interrupted Mora's thoughts in order to talk on a cell phone.
While speaking, Mora looked over to the disruptive photographer from KNBC a number of times before cutting off his thoughts completely.
Mora stared for a few moments before saying, "Hey, shut up!"
The photographer soon cut off his conversation on the phone, but not before Mora added, "The disrespect of some people is unbelievable to me."
After the photographer told Mora that he could continue talking about Pasquale, Mora responded, "Don't tell me to 'go on'! I'll go on when I'm ready to go on. Why don't you take your butt out of here if you're going to be disrespectful."
Mora then stood and left the press conference.
The UCLA football team is having closed practices this week as Mora gets the Bruins prepared to take on Nebraska.
