Twin Brothers Sentenced For Stabbing Over Cigarette
SANTA MONICA (CBSLA.com) — Twin brothers were sentenced to Wednesday in connection with the stabbing of a Los Angeles man.
Anthony and Conrad Sowash, both 27 of Los Angeles, each pleaded guilty one count of assault with a deadly weapon on Feb. 3. At their sentencing Wednesday, Anthony was sentenced to six years in state prison and his brother was sentenced to time served and placed on probation, Santa Monica police Sgt. Jay Moroso said.
The stabbing happened in early July 4, 2013 in the 3000 block of Santa Monica Boulevard when the Sowash brothers and two female friends began talking with a group of students from a local university. One of the brothers apparently asked for a cigarette and a lighter, and the conversation somehow escalated into a 24-year-old man from Los Angeles being stabbed with a knife several times, Moroso said..
According to Moroso, Conrad Sowash acted in concert with his brother during the assault, but did not use a weapon.
The Sowash's female friends were also arrested on misdemeanor assault charges. The stabbing victim fully recovered from his injuries, Moroso said.
